Earning a scholarship for next year starts as you enter your senior year in high school. To increase your chances of an academic award, please apply to Texas Tech as soon as possible.

The priority Scholarship Application deadline is December 1st. Consideration for funding from December 1- February 1st is limited.

Freshman Presidential Scholarships

Presidential Scholarships are awarded to entering first-time freshman who show exceptional academic ability through superior test scores and class ranking. Annual award amounts pay one-half toward fall and one-half toward spring terms. If you are a non-resident awarded a Presidential Scholarship, you will also qualify to pay in-state tuition. All merit awards are guaranteed for students admitted by April 15th; admission after this date is limited only by availability of these scholarships.

Presidential Scholarship Levels

National Merit Finalists

At Texas Tech, National Merit Finalists are awarded 100% of original federally approved cost of attendance. Approximately $25,000 per year for up to 4 years combining federal institutional and external gift aid. In order to maintain eligibility for this scholarship, students must keep a 3.5 GPA and 15 earned hours per semester. Learn More


Raise.me helps 9-12th grade students prepare for college by earning scholarships for their achievements in high school. Texas Tech is proud to have partnered with Raise.me, and award micro-scholarships for both academics and extracurricular activities. Learn More

Raise.Me students who qualify for a merit scholarship will receive the TTU Presidential as an upgrade to their Raise Me award.
